Simon Dalby extends with Uno-X Mobility after turbulent winter and strong comeback

The 23-year-old Danish rider will continue in red and yellow through the 2027 season.
Simon Dalby has signed a one-year contract extension with Uno-X Mobility Cycling after a season that has carried extra meaning. Following a turbulent winter, he has worked his way back, finished 17th overall at Tour de Suisse, earned his first Grand Tour start at La Vuelta — and finished 9th on Stage 13.
For Dalby, the extension is both a confirmation and a chance to keep building. He is currently in his fifth season with the Uno-X organisation, and continuing with the team after everything he has been through means something special.
“It felt really, really good to have it settled after a turbulent year. I am happy that I can continue with the team. This is my fifth year here, and I am really happy to continue being part of a team I have been with for many years now,” Dalby says.

More steps to take
Dalby’s 2026 season has shown progression in the kind of races where he wants to keep developing. His first Grand Tour start is another important step, and the next goal is to continue growing as a GC rider.
“I hope to continue developing as a GC rider. I think I have taken some important steps this year, but I still believe there is a lot of potential to be gained,” he says.
“I am excited to see what it can do for me as a rider to get a Grand Tour in the legs.”
Uno-X Mobility General Manager Thor Hushovd is pleased to see Dalby continue with the team.
“Simon has had some real health challenges, but despite that he has shown very promising signs this season, especially at Tour de Suisse. He has been with us since the development team, and we really believe in him. We believe he can reach the level we know he has inside him,” says Uno-X Mobility General Manager Thor Hushovd.
And for Dalby, the long-term ambition is clear.
“If I can do top 10 in a Grand Tour one day, that would be really great.”

Back at the highest level
The progress means even more because of what came before it.
Dalby was hospitalised during the autumn after suffering two small blood clots in the brain. Further examinations later identified the most likely cause as a very small congenital opening between the chambers of the heart, known as a PFO. After a successful procedure, rehabilitation and close follow-up from the medical team, he was able to return to training and build his way back step by step.
“It was not given that I could return as a professional cyclist. That is why I am really happy that I can continue next year,” Dalby says.
Being selected for a Grand Tour became an important sign that the work had brought him back to a high level.
“It has been really nice to show that after what I have been through, I can still be close to the level needed to be selected for a Grand Tour,” he says.
For Dalby, the support around him during that period has meant a lot.
“I am extremely grateful to the whole team — the coaches, the sports directors and especially the whole medical team — for the support I have received throughout the process.”

Same values, bigger team
Dalby has been part of the Uno-X Mobility journey from the development team to the WorldTour. The team has grown, but he feels the culture has stayed the same.
“We have become a much bigger and better team, but at the same time we have managed to keep the values and culture that were there when I joined the team,” he says.
“They are still the same, even though we have become a WorldTour team and a much bigger organisation.”
That is why the next year matters. Another season in red and yellow, another year to keep developing — and another step in the journey Dalby has already fought hard to continue.
