The Halland Johannessen twins extend until 2028
The Norwegian cycling twins extend with Uno-X Mobility Cycling until the end of 2028 — and will keep climbing in red and yellow.
Tobias and Anders Halland Johannessen will keep wearing red and yellow for two more years.
The 26-year-old twins from Drøbak were part of our development team in 2020, before becoming fully integrated into the Uno-X professional squad in 2021. Since then, they have become a crucial part of our line-up whenever the road goes uphill — bringing talent, energy and two very familiar smiles to some of the biggest races in the world.
For Tobias, the extension comes at an important time — both for himself, for Anders and for a group of riders who have grown together with the project.
“I think it is very positive. We are a group that has been here for a long time, and hopefully we are now entering the peak years of our careers. It is still quite new in cycling that you can spend those years on a Norwegian team in development,” says Tobias.
For Anders, extending with Uno-X feels like continuing to develop in the right environment.
“It feels like we get to continue living at home and developing in safe surroundings. I want to become the best cyclist I can be, and I believe I can do that at Uno-X,” says Anders.
With five professional victories between them, the brothers are pleased to extend with Uno-X Mobility Cycling — and to do it together.
A package deal
For the Halland Johannessen brothers, staying together matters.
“We come as a package. I could never imagine this without Anders, but maybe he would manage better without me,” Tobias says with a smile.
Anders quickly replies:
“Yes, I actually want to get away. No, joking — I could never ride for another team than Tobias.”
At home, they are neighbours. On the road, they are often together. Splitting into different teams would not exactly be a small adjustment.
For both brothers, the social side of the team is part of what makes Uno-X special.
“You can see it at the races. We are a group of friends who would rather sit in the bus and talk than sit in our rooms with headphones on waiting for massage. We look forward to going away with the team,” says Anders.
Tobias believes that kind of team spirit cannot be bought.
“This team morale is not something you can buy anywhere. It is built over time, and I think we are right at the top of cycling when it comes to that.”
No ceiling
The twins have been part of Uno-X Mobility Cycling’s growth for a long time. Both raced the unforgettable Tour de France in 2025 together — a milestone for them, and for us.
For Tobias, 6th place overall in the Tour de France stands as his biggest achievement so far. For Anders, the GC victory at the Tour of Slovenia last year remains a standout result.
Since Tobias and Anders first joined the project, Uno-X Mobility Cycling has changed dramatically. What once felt far away is now part of everyday life.
“Now it suddenly feels normal that we are preparing for the Tour de France. Earlier, the Norwegian Cup was the biggest thing for us,” says Anders.
The development is visible across the team: camps, equipment, staff, performance work and the whole structure around the riders.
“I feel there is no ceiling on what we are doing. A few years ago, if someone had said we would become a WorldTour team, we probably would not have believed it. There are good riders coming up behind us as well, so Uno-X does not need to put any limits on how far we can go,” says Tobias.
He believes the team has become something special by building step by step.
“I feel we are a rock-solid project, and I think we are one of the most attractive teams in the WorldTour. We have built this over time and suddenly become a heavyweight, even though we are a Norwegian-Danish team.”
A huge part of our identity
Uno-X General Manager Thor Hushovd explains why keeping the twins on board matters so much.
“Tobias and Anders are a huge part of our identity. Not only do they deliver great results, but the way they do it is just as inspiring. They bring energy to the group, lift the spirit around them and stay positive even when the pressure is high. To do that, and still achieve a result like 6th overall in the Tour de France, is spectacular,” says Hushovd.
For Uno-X Mobility Cycling, extending with riders who have been part of the project for so long is another important step in building the team for the future. From off-road talents to Grand Tour riders, Tobias and Anders have grown with us — and we are excited to keep growing together.
The ambitions for the coming years are clear. Anders would love to take a Grand Tour stage win — and help Tobias onto the podium in a Grand Tour. Tobias gives the answer back.
“I would really like Anders to get a Grand Tour stage win — and a podium in a Grand Tour. It feels closer than ever, so that has to be the goal.”
The 2026 season has already shown what can be possible, with Tobias’ performance on the final stage of Itzulia Basque Country helping him climb to third overall in the GC — and with two Halland Johannessens still in red and yellow, there should be plenty more uphill chapters to come.
The brothers were both in action at Tour Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes last week, where Tobias delivered a strong week in the mountains. One second place, two third places and 5th overall in the GC gave another reminder of his level, with Anders and the rest of the team helping support the effort — including in the team time trial — before Anders eventually had to withdraw due to illness.
Now, the next big target is coming closer. The Tour de France is only a few weeks away, with the team selection expected in around a week’s time. For Uno-X Mobility Cycling, the GC battle will once again be one of the major goals.
