The Norwegian 31-year-old has committed his future to Uno-X Mobility Cycling through the 2030 season.

Jonas Abrahamsen has been part of Uno-X since 2017. From his early days on the development team to becoming a classics captain, a fan favourite and one of the peloton's most recognisable breakaway riders, few have been as closely connected to our journey as Grenlandsplogen.

In 2025, he delivered one of the biggest moments in our history, claiming our first-ever stage victory at the Tour de France. The win came just four weeks after he broke his collarbone, completing a remarkable comeback on stage 11 in Toulouse.

Now, with his contract extended from 2028 to 2030, Abrahamsen is ready to continue building on everything he and the team have achieved together.

For Abrahamsen, the motivation to stay is closely connected to his own development.

“I have been with the team since 2017, and I have obviously developed a lot. That is perhaps what means the most to me – that I can keep developing and take new steps. That gives me the most motivation, and I hope I can continue doing that,” Abrahamsen says.

“And of course, the amazing atmosphere among the riders, staff and the whole group is important.”

From 20 people to WorldTour

When Abrahamsen joined Uno-X in 2017, the organisation looked very different. He has witnessed its development from a small Norwegian setup to a WorldTour team competing at the highest level of the sport.

“It is incredibly fun to have been part of this since we were around 20 people in total – mechanics, riders, sports directors and carers included. Now we are probably around 100,” he says.

For Abrahamsen, the journey has been about more than results. It has also been about learning, making mistakes and being part of an environment where people are encouraged to improve.

“We have learned a lot by making many mistakes. You learn from mistakes, and every time I have made mistakes, I have learned and become even better. So it is nice to be in a place where you are allowed to make mistakes.”

That approach has helped shape both his career and the organisation around him. And despite how far the team has come, Abrahamsen believes there is much more to achieve.

“We have a plan to keep getting better all the time. Now we are WorldTour, and I am aiming for us to become a top-five team in the WorldTour. That is the goal, at least. Then we have to bring in people and expertise – and that is what we are doing at Uno-X.”

Dreaming of a monument

Abrahamsen has established himself among the leading classics riders, with results including second place at Dwars door Vlaanderen in 2024 and fifth at E3 Saxo Classic in 2026.

But his ambitions reach even further.

“I dream of winning a Monument, but also of being part of the team winning a Grand Tour – preferably the Tour de France. That is perhaps the biggest dream for the team. With hard work, anything is possible,” he says.

“My hope is to win Tour of Flanders or Paris-Roubaix. I hope to get a top five first, and then work my way towards the best possible result.”

Uno-X Mobility General Manager Thor Hushovd is delighted to see Abrahamsen commit his future to the team.

“Jonas has been so important for Uno-X. He’s one of the leaders in the team, and he’s a workaholic who motivates both his teammates and our staff. He loves to push the boundaries, and by doing that he has raised the bar for what a Norwegian cyclist can achieve. We’re super happy about this contract extension,” says Hushovd.

Still pushing the limits

Having spent nearly a decade in the organisation, Abrahamsen has gained valuable experience from some of the sport's biggest races and from the people around him.

He believes there is still plenty to learn.

“I think it is about doing things right in training. Working smarter, and especially continuing to learn from those with experience – like I did with Alexander Kristoff. But also creating your own experience, because experience is especially important in Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.”

And as one of the team's longest-serving riders, he also sees an opportunity to pass that experience on to the next generation.

“I look forward to being a good role model as I get older, and maybe being a bit of a mentor for the young riders coming through. It is so easy to make mistakes and maybe think you know best yourself, but I have learned that it is smart to listen to the people with more experience. Hopefully, I can contribute with that going forward,” he says.

After almost ten years together, Abrahamsen and Uno-X Mobility are now looking ahead to four more seasons – with bigger ambitions, new challenges and a shared determination to keep improving.
